Enlarged Pores

Enlarged Pores

Enlarged pores are hollows in the facial skin surface with one or more openings to the ducts that carry sweat and oil from the sebaceous glands. Enlarged pores appear dilated and are visible to the naked eye.

Pore size is genetic, but too much production of sebum or oil leads to enlarged pores. This enlargement is due to oil combining with skin debris and getting clogged. As you age and gain low skin elasticity, your pores also appear larger. Other factors influencing large skin pores are chronic acne, sun damage, smoking, hormonal differences, radiodermatitis, and vitamin A deficiencies. Large pores may also be present with other skin concerns, such as blackheads, since they are easily impacted by skin debris.

The best way to treat enlarged pores is by targeting underlying associated causes, like increased sebum production, skin aging, and clogged pores. In addition, you can help shrink these pores through exfoliation and skin peel treatments.
